Kabardino-Balkaria will present 10 investment projects at the International economic Forum Kuban-2007, which will be held in Sochi from September 20 to 24. On some of the projects agreements will be signed.

Alongside with those projects , which have become the focus of potential investors' attention and those on which certain agreements have been reached, there will be presented several new ones to demonstrate that Kabardino-Balkaria has all the prerequisites for making investment climate attractive for potential investors.

Half of the projects is connected with the development of tourism and downhill skiing: the construction of the second and the third cable way to the mount of Elbrus, a cable way to the mount of Cheget, tourism-recreation complex Gily-Su, mountain-skiing complex Cheeper-Azau, restoration of Climber's complexes Priut-11 (the Shelter of the eleven). The construction of the second cable way will enable to lift 2400 people/hour to ‘Mir' station. 

The capacity of the third section will be up to 1500 man/hour to the station Garabashi to the glacier with the same name, where one can enjoy all year round mountain skiing. The needed investment amounts to 750 mln roubles, the payback period being 70 months.

As for Cheget, it has also been chosen by skiers and snowboarders and it's high time they were provided with normal access to the summit. The tentative investment for the two cable ways is 430 mln roubles, the payback period being 44 months.

The project on the development of the north-eastern part of Elbrus envisages the erection of a unique tourism-recreation complex Gily-Su. Here, we have a potential investor in the person of the INTERROS holding company, whose president Vladimir Potanin and KBR President Arsen Kanokov have already signed the memorandum on the construction. The creation of the complex will enable to accommodate here up to 10 thousand skiers at the same time and to develop 200 km of ski tracks with varying altitude. Moreover, the area is known for the exceptional snow quality, besides, and at the altitude of 3500 meters there is an eternal snow cover. To add, Kislovodsk ( a famous health-resort town) is just 85 km from here, and the area is affluent in various unique spas. The volume of investment is 18 milliard roubles, payback period being 81 months. 

One more mountain skiing compex is Cheeper Azau. The project includes: the auto road to the plato with the same name, a pendulum cable way "Stary Krugozor - Cheeper Azau" with the capacity of 2000 people/hour, three downhill tracks, four cafes, skiing equipment hiring service and other objects. All this will enable to serve up to 6000 recreants at the same time.

The analysis of the tourist stream shows that Cheeper -Azau is able to realize up to 80% of it capacity even within the first year. The volume of investment makes up 1311 mln. roubles, the pay back period - 46 months. The Climbing complex Priut 11 located at the altitude of 4050 meters above sea level, was destroyed by fire some time ago. The project envisages not only the restoration but even the enlargement of the hotel's capacity form 95 to 125 rooms. The investment volume amounts to 85 mln roubles, the payback period - 47 months. The project will be invested by the "Ostankino" meet processing combine. 

The republic is as well going to present another two projects: a new international airport in Nalchik and a railroad project Soldatskaya-Tyrnyauz.

  As for the airport, there is one in Nalchik, but it has no future, since it is located within the boundaries of the town and is only partially suitable for flights. As for the new one it is supposed to meet the demands of home and international transportation to the countries of Middle East, Western Europe, countries of the former USSR. The total area of the new airport is 254.39 hectars with capacity of 500 passengers/hour, the landing strip being lengthened for 500 meters. The investment amounts to 4200 mnl roubles, with the payback period of 20 years. 

The railway project amounts to not less than 7300 mln. roubles. The project has been included into the strategy of the development of the RF railway transport. The railway branch-line should contribute to the fulfillment of several other projects, aimed at developing non-ore minerals deposits: two granite and gravel crushed stone plants in Tyrnyauz ( 300 mnl roubles each), two volcanic ash and pumic-stone plants (300 mnl roubles), a quatrz sandstone plant in Prolhladny (150 mln roubles). All the above projects will be presented at the Forum.

  Another industrial object in the Republic is a cement plant in Baksan district. The project will be invested by the "Ural Mountain-Metallurgic Company". KBR President Arsen Kanokov met with the company's President Andrei Kozitisin last November. The volume of investment is 5.5 milliard roubles. The envisaged output amounts to 1.5 million ton/year. Besides, the plant will employ 500 people. 

The market analysis shows the increasing demand for tungsten and molybdenum and the time has come to attract investments into this sphere as well . So the project will be connected with its restoration and technical reequipment. The investment amounts to 1854 mln roubles with the payback period of 44 months. Another project to be presented at the Forum deals with hydroelectric energy. It envisages the construction of 17 hydroelectric stations with the annual output of 688.7 mln kW/hour. The investment amounts to 5'605 mln. Roubles.

And at last housing construction. The 9750 mln rouble project envisages the construction of blocks of flats on the area of 300 hundred hectars in the microdistrict "Dubki" . The payback period is 84 months.
