APPEAL of the KBR President Arsen Kanokov on the occasion of the 143-th anniversary of the end of the Caucasian War. Dear compatriots! On the 21-st of May the people of Kabardino-Balkaria, the Adyghes of all the world commemorate a sorrowful date - 143-th anniversary of the end of the lasting many years Caucasian War, which resulted in the threat even to the physical existence of the Adyghes. Once numerous people, by the standards of those times, found themselves scattered around the world with the cancelled past and without future. 

On this day of the national grief we remember those who gave their lives, defending their Motherland, we bow our heads to the memory of all the innocent victims of the Caucasian War. 

The Adyghes, who during thousands of years have been acknowledging freedom and the love for their motherland, respect to an individual as their main values, have not vanished despite all the misfortunes, they have retained their dignity and their high spirited and creative potential. 

Now they are confidently building a new life within the multiethnic family of the peoples of Russia, they occupy their due place in the Russian and the world communities. 

Today we are doing justice to the heroic deeds committed by all the previous generations of our people, who, in spite of the black page in the history of our relations with the former State of Russia, managed not only to preserve their historical motherland, but to remain faithful to the oath 'Forever with Russia' once given by our remote ancestors. Very little time will pass and we, the population of the contemporary KBR, will celebrate the 450-th anniversary of KBR's voluntary joining Russia. I believe that the celebration of the glorious date will give a new impulse to the consolidation of our society, to the preservation and multiplication of our basic values - peace and social harmony, the unity of KBR as an inseparable part of the Russian Federation. 

On the eve of the doleful date I wish well-being to the people of our native Kabardino-Balkaria, to all the Adyghes of the world.
