Vice Prime Minister of the Russian Government Dmitry Kozak took part in the ceremonial opening of the second level of the Elbrus cableway. "Russian government continues construction of all projects of mount resorts in the North Caucasus it has initiated before" - Kozak told journalists. According to him the position of the government of the Russian Federation is "to finish all projects initiated before. We have restructured the "South of Russia" programme to accomplish this task". "These are crisis management measures at the same time" - the Vice Prime Minister added. He also said that 18 billion rubles had been allotted to Kabardino-Balkaria, Karachai-Circassia, North Ossetia, and Dagestan for the mountain resort development.
Speaking about the development of resorts in Prielbrusie D. Kozak noted that completion of the road "Kislovodsk-Chipr-Azau" will guarantee Prielbrusie the status of the resort of international level. "Your resort can well lay claim to host Winter Olympiad" - he said. The President of KBR Arsen Kanokov emphasized the development of tourism for the republic's economy. He prioritized development of Prielbrusie infrastructure in the plans of the KBR government. The head of the republic expressed thanks to the Federal Center for the help in the development of Prielbrusie. The second level of the Elbrus cableway connects two stations "Stary Krugozor" (2936, 6 meters above sea level) and "Mir" (3500 meters above sea level). The length of the cableway is 1800 meters. Cableway capacity is 2400 people per hour. The first level of the cableway was commissioned in 2006. |
