A glass-furnace has been launched at a new glass-works in the town of Chegem of the Chegem District of Kabardino-Balkaria. It is working in a test mode but by the mid November it will work at full capacity. The project initiator LVT Ltd spent 1 330 mln. roubles on it. About 900 mln. roubles of the total sum are the credit of "Rosselkhozbank". 610 mln. roubles are spent  on the purchase of the equipment. Annual tax payment will be about 211 mln. roubles.  Annual gross output will be 800 mln. roubles (140 mln. product units yearly, the output is 160 tones of fluid glass per day).  Two out of three planned autonomous lines have been installed. Modern production of glass packaging using Czech equipment will enable to produce glass bottles of 50 grams to 3 liters.

The President of Kabardino-Balkaria told Olga Allenova, the journalist of the Publishing House "Коммерсантъ" about the reasons of extremism in the North Caucasus.

An Agreement on intentional training of specialists was signed between the Ministry of Culture of Kabardino-Balkaria and St. Petersburg State University of Cinema and Television (SPSUCT). The document is signed by the Minister of Culture of KBR Ruslan Firov and the rector of SPSUCT Alexander Belousov. Klim Lavrentiev, the secretary of the Russian Union of Filmmakers and Vladimir Vorokov, the chairman of the KBR Union of Filmmakers witnessed the ceremony.     

World Heavy Weight Free Style Wrestling Champion Bilyal Makhov won the vote for the best sportsman of September. He got 59,1 % votes of TV channel "Sport" viewers and visitors of Sportbox.ru, compared with Evgenia Kanaeva's 47,1 %, who won 6 gold medals at the World Rhythmic Gymnastics Championship. The names of Elena Isinbaeva (Track and field athletics), Irina Kalentieva (Bicycle Racing), and Egor Mekhontsev (Boxing) were also included into the voting list. 

Nalchik has become the festival capital of the South Federal District for several days. Nalchik, the capital of Kabardino-Balkaria is hosting a meeting of the Coordination Council on Culture for the first time. Ruslan Firov, the Minister of Culture of Kabardino-Balkaria initiated revival of the International Folk Festival "Dances above Elbrus" and holding the third All-Russia festival of news programs "Peace. Accord. Unity".   

The President of Kabardino-Balkaria Arsen Kanokov held a meeting with the heads of administrations of municipal districts of the republic. Questions of pecuniary aiding and enabling the jobless to open their own small businesses were discussed at the meeting.

A new manufacture "Boren textiles" has been opened today in Nalchik. It will produce wool and acrylic garments. A symbolic red ribbon was cut by the President of Kabardino-Balkaria and one of the co-owners of the production, a citizen of Turkey Shik Boren. The head of the republic congratulated everybody on the event and stressed that opening of the new manufacturing is especially important in the conditions of the financial crisis.

President of Russia Dmitry Medvedev made a one-day working visit to Azerbaijan. Among the members of the delegation was the head of Kabardino-Balkaria Arsen Kanokov. Trade and economic agreement, an agreement on scientific and technological cooperation and on cultural cooperation between Kabardino-Balkaria and Azerbaijan were signed within the framework of the visit. 

The President of KBR Arsen Kanokov believes we can hardly hope to recover from recession in the nearest future.  The year of 2010 can become a watershed one for the Russian economy. The head of the republic said about it speaking at the meeting of the members of the Association "The Council of Municipal Offices of KBR". According to the president while assessing perspectives of recovering from the recession the majority of experts who participated in St. Petersburg International Economic Forum are of the same opinion.

On June 12, 2009 about 200 residents of the village of Elbrus blocked the motor road to Prielbrussie. The cause of the incident is the intention of the authorities of the enterprise to reduce the staff list to 11 units. The incident was over only after the visit of the President Arsen Kanokov. 

The final day of the festival "Student Spring on the Caucasus" held in Kabardino-Balkaria, began with the parade of many thousands of young people along the main avenue of Nalchik.

Speaking at the meeting of the KBR President's Council on the realization of national projects and demographic policy the Minister of Education Safarbi Shkhagapsoev announced that investment in education allowed to increase the quality of teaching and to adjust it to modern requirements.
